Marlyn Fred Henry Nuehring

Marlyn Fred Henry Nuehring, 95 of Monona, Iowa passed away Monday, October 13, 2025 at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa. Marlyn was born October 6, 1930 to John W and Alice (Kruse) Nuehring at the family home in Monona Township. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa and attended Pleasant Grove Country School #4.
On November 20, 1951, Marlyn was united in marriage with Dorothy Saacke at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa. Four children were born to this union. Marlyn farmed for many years before working in the feed business for 47 years before his retirement in 1986.
Marlyn was a member of the square dance club for over 10 years, card club for over 50 years and was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona. He enjoyed farming, tinkering, socializing and gardening. A trip to Elkader included a stop at the bakery.
Surviving Marlyn are his children, Juanita (Steve) Doeppke of Elkader, Iowa, Kevin (Chris) Nuehring of Farmersburg, Iowa, Arlen (Kila) Nuehring of Monona, Iowa and Colleen Schellhammer of Waukon, Iowa; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and his special friend, Marjorie Schrader.
Preceding Marlyn in death were his wife, Dorothy Nuehring on October 31, 2004; parents, John and Alice Nuehring; brothers, Orville, John, Daymond, Frederick and three infant brothers; sisters, Frances, Leila, LaVerda and Lorene; son-in-law, Gary Schellhammer; and parents-in-law, Roy and Effie Saacke.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am with a visitation from 9 to 11 on Friday, October 17, 2025 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa with Rev. Erica Lenth as the officiant.
Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Monona, Iowa.
