Denise Marie (Wille) Young

Denise Marie (Wille) Young, 60 of Monona, Iowa passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at her home. Denise was born May 26, 1964 to Jerome and Phyllis (Hoeger) Wille in Dubuque, Iowa. She spent her younger years on the family farm in Farmersburg, Iowa. Her time was spent tending to her chores, listening to country music, and helping her mother in the kitchen. She graduated from MFL with the class of 1982.
As an adult, Denise loved to be social and often attended community gatherings. Her outgoing nature led her to a street dance in July of 1991 in Marquette, Iowa, where she met Colm Young. On October 22, 1994, Denise was united in marriage with Colm at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa. A daughter was born to this union, Magdalena. Denise exemplified patience, humility, and faith. These attributes are a big inspiration for Magdalena, who chooses to live like her mother every single day. Throughout the years Denise worked at Quillins in Monona, Iowa. Many friends and acquaintances were made over the years as a result of her cheery nature and hardworking attitude. Denise had an incredible green thumb, often tending to her houseplants and planting flowers and vegetables in the spring. She was an avid reader of mystery novels. She was a devoted fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, and Denver Broncos. With the guidance of her mother Phyllis, she made beautiful quilts. In the cold winter months, she loved to play board games and complete jigsaw puzzles with her daughter and husband.
Surviving Denise are her husband, Colm Young of Monona, Iowa; daughter, Magdalena “Maggie” Young of Dubuque, Iowa; her siblings, Geraldine “Gerri” Wille of Guttenberg, Robert (Shirley) Wille of Farmersburg, Iowa, David (Lisa) Wille of Monona, Iowa, Jerome (Angela) Wille of Dubuque, Iowa and Ronald (Janie) Wille of Monona, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Phyllis Wille.
A Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a Scripture Service at 6:00 pm on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa. There will also be a visitation from 9:30 am to 10:30 am before mass at the church on Monday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Monday, February 17, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa with Rev. Martin Coolidge as the celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Monona, Iowa.
Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona, Iowa is assisting the family with services.
