Dustin J. Lewey

Dustin J. Lewey, 41, of Monona, formerly of Waukon, died Monday, July 1, 2024, at his home in Monona.

Memorial services were held Monday, July 8 at Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Rusty Phillips officiating. Burial was at Sixteen Cemetery in rural Harpers Ferry.

Dustin James Lewey was born May 26, 1983, in Waukon, the son of Michael R. Lewey and Cindy (Beisker) Topel. He was baptized at St. Patrick Catholic Church and attended Waukon High School. Dustin was a welder at Gencor in Marquette and owned Lewey Mobile Welders with his son Jese as well. On July 4, 2014, he married Erica Rose McGeough in Las Vegas, Nevada, and they made their home in Monona.

When he was younger, Dustin liked bird hunting. He loved fishing and mushroom hunting (more so eating the mushrooms than the hunting part). Dustin was a great cook and griller and could put together a competition worthy chili. A big Indianapolis Colts fan, he attended several games with family throughout the years. He also liked going to his kids’ sporting events. Traveling, going to parades and watching Seinfeld were favorite activities as well. When he wasn’t working, Dustin loved to weld and fabricate at home too.

He is survived by his wife Erica of Monona; four children: Jese (Jada) Lewey and Kaylee and Kynlee Baker, all of Monona, and Alix Goeke of Patch Grove, Wisconsin; granddaughter Bexley Whiteacre of Sparta, Wisconsin; his mom Cindy Topel of Monona; siblings: Greg (Mari) Lewey, Clark (Barb) Lewey, and Christine (Troy) Dixon, all of Decorah and Randall (Melissa) Steele Jr. of Indiana; grandma Irene Lewey of Waukon; mother-in-law Helen (Bob) McGeough of Waterville; father-in-law Mike McGeough of Monona; sisters-in-law: Michelle (Dustin) Henkes and Morgan (Brad) Radloff, both of Monona, and Emily (Jay) Jones of Blair, Wisconsin; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Dustin was preceded in death by his father, Mike Lewey; brother Jese Lewey; dad Steve Topel; sister-in-law Nicole McGeough; and his grandparents.

Honorary urnbearers were Mike Ferguson, Austin Mathis, Mikel Normann, Dustin Tobin, and Larry Zahasky. Lon Frana will serve as urnbearer.
