Faith Lutheran to open doors on new church building

MONONA — Sunday will be a day that members of Monona’s Faith Lutheran NALC have been waiting nearly a decade for. After years of meeting first at Monona’s Community Center and later at the local NAPA auto parts store, the congregation will open the doors on its brand new facility Sunday, March 3 for its 8:30 a.m. worship service.

“We’re really excited,” Church Chairman Dan Keehner said. “It was a long process to design and finally put it together. I think the whole community has seen the building progress – one stick at a time. We’re just excited to get started.”

“I get a smile on my face every time I come out here,” former chairman Brent Bruns said.

Faith Lutheran NALC gathered for its first worship Nov. 14, 2010 at the Monona Community Center as one of the first churches in the North American Lutheran Church organization, which had formed less than three months earlier. After three years at the Community Center, the church moved to the NAPA building, where it met until this coming Sunday. Bruns, said it did not take the congregation long to determine that it would eventually need its own building.

“I think from day one we knew we were going to have to do something,” he said.
