Senior Awards go virtual

MONONA – Nothing has been normal about the past two months for MFL MarMac High School’s graduating seniors, though that did not mean they did not reap the benefits of their hard work. Last Wednesday 31 graduating seniors received scholarships and awards during a very special Senior Awards Night.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s ceremony was virtual, with High School Principal Larry Meyer standing alone on stage speaking live to an empty auditorium while 20 presenters from the community announced awards from their homes.

“We knew it was important that Mr. Meyer be live from the auditorium, as that is where the awards night would usually take place,” said Cheri Moser, a former television news executive producer who the school brought on to produce the ceremony. “We wanted it to feel like a home base and bring comfort to all those watching. We were trying to add in some normalcy with all that’s going on.”
