Robert Frank Imbus
LUANA — Robert Frank Imbus, 80 of Luana passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 19 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona. A prayer service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 19 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona, Iowa Rev. Martin Coolidge as the celebrant.
Robert was born November 20, 1942 to Henry and Mary (Vogt) Imbus in Menominee, Ill.
On Aug. 21, 1965, Robert married the former Marian Sackett. To this union four children were born, Michael, Diann, Lynn and Kevin. Robert enjoyed working and making cheese at Swiss Valley Farms in Luana and was first in the United States and third in the world in cheese making. When he wasn’t busy cutting wood to heat the family home, Robert also enjoyed fishing, camping and tinkering in his garage. He loved joking around but when he said “stop” everyone knew he meant it. You could always find Robert was sitting in his chair whenever you stopped at his house with a pocket full of fruit snacks for the grandkids and great-grandkids. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Surviving Robert are his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Marian Imbus of Luana, his children, Michael Imbus, Diann (Jason) Getzel, Lynn (Eric) Muchangi and Kevin (Trish) Imbus; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Agnes Melsen, Doris Watkins, Joyce Powers, Nancy Roepke, James Imbus and Daniel Imbus and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Robert in death were his parents, Henry and Mary (Vogt) Imbus; four brothers, Herb, Jerry, Donald and Art; grandson, Justin Imbus ; great-granddaughter, Lillie Ferrel’ daughter-in-law, Jennifer Imbus and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ellis and Josephine Sackett.
Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona, Iowa is assisting the family with services.
