Wrestlers sign college Letters of Intent

Three MFL MarMac wrestlers made their college intentions official last Thursday, signing letters of intent during a signing ceremony with school officials, family and friends present. Nathan Johanningmeier, top photo, has signed with the University of Wisconsin-Platteville while Michael Egan and Korby Keehner, bottom photo, will wrestle at Luther College in Decorah next year. The trio of seniors were part of a Bulldog team that won the Upper Iowa Conference dual and traditional tournaments this year. All three were state placewinners during their careers and won more than 100 matches. Egan finished tied for MFL MarMac’s career wins record and fifth at 145 pounds in the 1A state tournament this year while Johanningmeier placed sixth at state at 182 pounds this year. Keehner was ranked as high as No. 1 in the state at heavyweight this year before suffering a season-ending injury for the second straight year. He placed eighth in the state tournament as a sophomore at 220 pounds. Luther is a Division III school that wrestles in the American Rivers Conference while Platteville is a Division III school that wrestles in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  All three wrestlers are pictured with Wrestling Coach Chet Bachman and High School Principal Larry Meyer.
