Wikner comes home to serve as Garden View executive director

MONONA -- An area native has come home to serve as Garden View Senior Community’s new executive director.

Stephanie Wikner grew up in Marquette and graduated from MFL MarMac High School in 2001. She began her career working for the United Way, a non-profit agency with offices in Cedar Rapids, before deciding to make a career change into nursing.

“I decided I wanted to go out and help people more,” she said.

Wikner’s nursing career began at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She and her husband Neal moved back to the area a few years ago so that he could work on his family’s farm, and Stephanie worked as a nurse at the Guttenberg Care Center and Strawberry Point Lutheran Home before being named executive director at Garden View in early August.

“It’s close to home - no more drive - and I still get to work with the elderly, which is my passion, and it kind of utilizes both of my (college) degrees, business and nursing.”
