Veterans Memorial Hospital Monona Clinic to open in mid-September

MONONA — Veterans Memorial Hospital’s Monona clinic is set to open sometime next month.
Located in the former Family Dental Associates office, Veterans Memorial Hospital spokesperson Erin Berns said the new clinic expects to open in mid-September.
“We have been overwhelmed by the friendly welcome we have received from the entire Monona area since we announced our plans to open a medical clinic in town,” Veterans Memorial Hospital administrator Mike Myers said. “Everyone who has assisted in the remodeling of the facility has bent over backwards to work us into their busy schedules, to be sure everything was done in time for our September opening and we are so grateful.”
The Monona Clinic will host four full exam rooms, allowing each provider to room patients in two rooms each.  Dr. Andrea Venteicher, formerly of the Waukon Gundersen Clinic, will be the lead physician in this new Monona Clinic. A yet-to-be introduced nurse practitioner will also be employed full-time as the clinic as well.
Tentatively, the first day that patients can call to make appointments at the new Veterans Memorial Hospital Monona Clinic is Tuesday, September 12.  Patients will be able to be seen at the clinic very soon after that date.
“Veterans Memorial Hospital has three very strong partners in the Mayo Waukon Clinic, Gundersen Waukon Clinic and Dr. McMullan’s Postville Medical Clinic who have supported Veterans Memorial Hospital for many years,” Myers said. “However recent events, with Dr. Venteicher resigning from Gundersen and Dr. Ross leaving Mayo in August, have left this area short on medical providers. Given the increasing difficulty to find providers willing to work in rural medicine and the current difficulty of people getting into the local clinics to be seen, the Board of Trustees and myself quickly realized that it was imperative that we step up to assist in this health care access issue.
“This is the first clinic that our hospital has opened and we are so excited to begin this new venture,” Myers said. “We look forward to continue working with our partners at the Waukon Mayo and Gundersen Clinics as well as Dr. McMullan’s Postville Clinic, bringing even more accessible health care to this population that has always been a very important part of our service area, making sure they can continue to have their health care provided, right here at home.”

Calls will be accepted at the new Veterans Memorial Hospital Monona Clinic beginning September 12.  The new phone number is (563) 539-5656. For any additional information, please call Veterans Memorial Hospital at (563)568-3411.
