Veteran news, sports reporter joins Outlook staff

   MONONA -- Veteran news and sports writer John Jensen has joined the Monona Outlook staff as its news editor.

   Jensen, 47, has spent most of the past 24 years covering news and sports in eastern Iowa, including 15 years as a daily sports writer. He transitioned to news nine years ago and has served in a variety of news and news/sports roles since.

   “I wanted to be everything other kids want to be when they’re growing up - a doctor, a teacher, a race car driver … but deep down what I really wanted to be was a journalist,” Jensen said. “I took a journalism class in high school and loved it, and decided to make journalism my career soon after beginning to write for our student newspaper in college.”

   “John is a seasoned journalist,” Outlook Publisher and Mid-America Publishing President Ryan Harvey said. “I think he’ll do a phenomenal job serving the Monona, Marquette, McGregor, Farmersburg, and Luana areas.
