Thomas speaks on staying strong after worst day possible

MONONA — June 24, 2009 is a day that most people in Aplington, Parkersburg and surrounding communities will never forget. It is a day that Aaron Thomas calls the worst of his life. It was the day that his father, Ed Thomas, was murdered in front of 20 Aplington-Parkersburg High School student athletes.
 
Thomas, now the high school principal and boys’ basketball coach at that same school, spoke of that day and how he stayed strong in light of the pain during a presentation at MFL MarMac High School last Monday. 
 
 
“We find out so much about ourselves and of our character not when things are going smooth, but maybe when we’re faced with adversity and some tough times in our lives,” he said.
