EDGEWOOD — The MFL MarMac girls’ track and field team will have a strong presence at the state track and field meet later this week, having qualified three individuals for the meet, which is run at Drake Stadium Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Senior Hannah Schutte earned a state meet berth in the 800-meters while her sister, senior Summer Schutte, qualified for state in the 200 and senior Emma Ammons qualified for state in the discus. All three have competed at state before, H. Schutte and Ammons last year and S. Schutte two years ago before an injury forced her to miss last track season.

The girls earned their state berths with strong showings at the state qualifying meet Friday in Edgewood, though they did not learn they had made the cut until qualifiers were announced by the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union Saturday.
