Speakers set humorous tone during MFL MarMac graduation

MONONA — What started on a somber note quickly turned humorous Sunday as forty-seven MFL MarMac seniors received their diplomas during the annual commencement ceremony at the A.N. Busse Gymnasium.

The ceremony opened with a moment of silence in memory of students Devin Tielbar and Rebecca Springsteen, both of whom passed away within the past two months. The mood quickly turned after that, as Superintendent Dr. Dale Crozier teased about fearing he might need to postpone graduation when he woke up to rain Sunday morning.

“I started to think, ‘Are we going to have to have a two-hour delay? And then I thought, Oh my, we might have to postpone the graduation until next Friday night,’” he said with a smile as he recounted having to postpone the school’s junior-senior prom for the first time ever. 

“This class was very flexible, very understanding and they definitely shined through that event,” he said. “It’s a great quality that they have and also a great opportunity.”
