Softball team dominates for two games; struggle with third

The MFL MarMac softball team hosted Tripoli on Tuesday, June 13.
The first inning was close, but the Bulldogs gained a slight lead with a score of 2-1. The second inning was a blowout, as the Bulldogs score six unanswered runs. The third inning was a repeat of the last, with the Bulldogs scoring five more runs, thus ending the game. The final score was 13-1.
Freshman Jordon Schubert pitched for the three innings and was able to rack up six strikeouts. Schubert only allowed one hit and one run.
The bats were singing for the Bulldogs because they were able to score 13 runs with ease.
The Bulldogs hosted a doubleheader against Central Elkader on Thursday, June 16.
The opening inning was slow but promising as the Bulldogs were able to bring one runner home. The second was scoreless but the third inning was bad for the Bulldogs as they scored one run, but Central Elkader scored five. The Bulldogs had to play catch-up and they countered by scoring six runs in the fourth inning, however Central Elkader scored two. The score heading into the fifth was 8-7, Bulldogs. The fifth inning was the final scoring inning, as the Bulldogs score three more runs, clinching the win. The final score was 11-7, Bulldogs.
The second game was a struggle for the Bulldogs.
 
In the first, the Bulldogs scored five runs, but allowed three runs to be scored. The second inning was disastrous for Bulldogs as they allowed six runners in and had none to answer with. The third was scoreless and the fourth had one Bulldogs runner come home. The fifth showed there was still hope left as they scored one run, but Central scored two. The sixth was the final nail in the coffin as Central scored one more one before a scoreless seventh ended the game. The final score was 12-7, Central Elkader.
