Senior-laden Bulldogs hope to contend for UIC title

MONONA — A roster featuring eight seniors who have had success in a lot of sports this year has the MFL MarMac High School baseball team optimistic for success in its abbreviated 2020 season.

The Bulldogs return five starters, two of whom earned all-conference recognition, from a team that recorded its first winning season in since 2004 last year.

“Our expectations are that at the end of this compacted three-week regular season that we’re competing for a conference title,” Coach Brandon Burke said. “The reality is that our one big goal since these kids have been eighth-graders is to make a big, big playoff run, hopefully end in Des Moines at Principal Park (in the state tournament).”

He said he has been happy so far with what he’s seen from the team.
