NATIONAL — A pair of local youth were among the big winners at the Clayton County Fair last week in National.

Garnavillo’s MacKenzie Ruff, who will be a junior at MFL MarMac High School this fall, dominated the poultry show while also winning awards in the dog and rabbit shows, while Monona’s Macie Weigand won awards in four different shows, including three senior showmanship trophies.

Ruff’s birds took Best of Show honors as well as first in the Commercial Birds and Egg Production classes in the Poultry Show. She also won senior showmanship honors in both the poultry and rabbit shows and was the Senior Dog Handling champion. Weigand won senior showmanship honors in the beef, sheep and meat goat shows while showing award winners in the sheep, beef heifer and dairy shows. Her lamb won top market individual honors in the sheep show.
