Revised school policy prohibits e-cigarette

MONONA — A revised MFL MarMac School Board policy prohibits the use of e-cigarettes on school property.
The School District Board of Directors made the change last Monday during their monthly Board meeting. Superintendent Dr. Dale Crozier said it had previously been assumed that vaping was smoking, though a student in another school district had successfully challenged that assertion after being caught with an e-cigarette.
“All the schools are revising their policies to include e-cigarettes,” he said.
There was no discussion about the revision, which passed unanimously.

The Board also reviewed data comparing the MFL MarMac Community School District to other Iowa districts of similar enrollment size and low socioeconomic status numbers.
