Recent graduate MFL MarMac’s ‘Man on the Mic’

MONONA — Anyone familiar with high school athletics knows there is one voice they hear more than any other. It’s not the coach, the players or even the cheerleaders. It’s the public address announcer giving all the details of what fans are seeing.

What MFL MarMac fans may not know is that the long-time voice of Bulldog home football and baseball games is none other that a college junior who got his start way back when he was in middle school.

Peyton Meisner said he has had an interest in journalism since he was young and had that interest reaffirmed as he took classes in high school. His first experience in public address announcing came even before that, when he was an eighth-grader whose interest was noticed by Chet Bachman, who was doing the P.A. at the time.

“Even when I was in eighth-grade he let me do a quarter of the game, like the third quarter,” Meisner said. “That was really cool that he let me do that. I really credit him for getting me interested in the P.A. announcing.”
