Pack 38 features record numbers

MONONA — Monona-based Cub Scout Pack 38 features a record number of Scouts this year, thanks in large part to joining forces with the former Pack 32, which had been based out of McGregor, and the inclusion of girls for the first time.

Pack 38 Committee Chair Larry Geisler said there are 50-plus children in the pack, including 10 girls, who are able to be Cub Scouts for the first time this year. “For this year all of the girls in Cub Scouting need to have a female den leader and their den has to be separate from the boys’ den,” Geisler said. “They can come to our pack meetings, and they’ll be mixed there, but they have to be with their leader in the den meetings.”

The leader emphasized that the Cub Scouts are not trying to compete with the Girl Scouts.
