NEIC tops UIC in annual senior game

MFL MarMac senior  bats during the UIC-NEIC Senior Game played last Monday (July 31) in Calmar.

CALMAR — One last chance to play was too big of a temptation for a number of area players to miss.
South Winneshiek and Turkey Valley players were joined by representatives from across the region July 31 for the annual senior game with NEIC and Upper Iowa players.
Northeast Iowa proved a tough foe as its seniors carried the night, 10-3 against Upper Iowa boys.
The game was hosted at Calmar with good weather for the event.
Coaching for Upper Iowa seniors, South Winneshiek’s Alex Smith noted the night saw 22 seniors take part.
“This is an annual game played between the two conference and fun time for the players, coaches, parents, and fans to see these guys play one last game in their school uniform,” said Smith. “Thanks to all involved that helped make this evening a success.”
