Moving on … Father Nils reflects on six years at Trinity Cluster

MONONA — Father Nils de Jesus Hernandez, who has spent the past six years serving the Trinity Cluster, will be leaving northeast Iowa at the end of the month as he assumes a new position in Waterloo.

Prior to his departure he willingly reflected on the time as he served St. Bridget, Postville;  St. Patrick, Monona; and St. Mary, McGregor.

“I found so many good people in this area of Iowa and I found the area to be one of the most beautiful places in the state of Iowa because of the natural scenic routes,” he said. “I enjoyed traveling the area, especially in the fall.”

Father Nils saw many accomplishments/changes in three parishes during his tenure here.

“The renovation of the inside of St. Bridget was a big accomplishment,” he said. “The church was built in 1970 and the new carpet and restructuring of the worship space turned out very well. A plaque denoting the tenth anniversary of the raid was placed outside the church and the statue of St. Bridget was refurbished.”
