Monona exploring sale of airport

MONONA -- The City of Monona may soon no longer have a municipal airport.

During last Monday’s city council meeting, Administrator Barb Collins brought up the possibility of selling the airport, which has served the city since 1968.

Collins said the 21.67-acre airport has lost money three out of the last four years and that there are five aircraft currently based at the field, all of which pay rent, though none regularly purchase fuel there. None of three individuals that did regularly purchase fuel at the airport last year still have their planes at the field.
