Monona Council discusses sidewalk repair needs

MONONA — The Monona City Council last Monday discussed the results of its first round of sidewalk inspections throughout the community.

Mayor Lynn “Marty” Martinson and Councilman Andy Meyer inspected the community’s southeast and southwest quadrants, looking mostly for issues that could cause problems for a stroller or could create a danger.

“This isn’t really too bad,” Martinson said of what he found.

All told about 30 properties were identified as having sidewalk in need of either replacement or repair. Many of those, the council said, may only need repairs to a small portion.

“A lip here, an edge there – a lot of it could be ground down,” Martinson said.
