Monona Council discusses ongoing sewer line issues

MONONA — The Monona City Council continued discussions about what should be done about problems with the City’s sewer systems during last Monday’s regular meeting.

Public Works Director Randy Evenson said lines leading to 25 homes in the southeast quadrant of Maple and Egbert Streets had been televised and that some issues had come up, including two cracked pipes and one footing drain issue.

A large part of the discussion centered around whether residents would be responsible to pay for repairs or if it would be the City’s responsibility. Councilman John Elledge asked if it would be possible for the City to share the responsibility with the property owners. There was no public decision or consensus on the issue.
