Monona Council approves zoning of newly-annexed property

MONONA — The Monona City Council Monday approved Planning and Zoning Committee recommendations for zoning of 13 properties that are now part of the city limits after recent zoning.

Four parcels were placed in the A-1 Agricultural zoning while three each fell into C-1 Highway Commercial, M-2 Industrial and R-1 Single Family Residential. Among the properties zoned A-1 Agricultural were two parcels owned by Mitchell Wagner while the Birdnow Chevrolet dealership property was zoned C-1 Highway Commercial and the D & J Feed Service, Inc. property was zoned M-2 Industrial.

City Administrator Dan Canton said that with one exception the new designations mirror how the county had zoned the property when it was located outside the city limits.

There were no comments during the public hearing, following which the City Council members voted unanimously to approve the recommendations. They then voted to waive both the second and third readings of the ordinance establishing the zoning boundaries and to adopt the ordinance.
