Middle School to present ‘Macbeth Off-Kilter’

MONONA — Who says Shakespeare can’t be fun? That’s the message from the MFL MarMac Middle School as it presents ‘Macbeth: Off-Kilter,” a reimagined version of Shakespeare’s great tragedy.
Instead of being set in Scotland, as the original “MacBeth” was, this modern version is set at Highland High School in the suburban United States. It features several sets, including a school lunchroom, hallway and a witches’ den where three goths show the lead character Scotty (played by Will Koether) his future.
Scotty is a high school senior with everything going for him, including a huge ego. When the three goths show him a vision where he, and not his friend Duncan (Jaxton Schroeder), should be the class president, his ambition leads him down a dark and absurd path.
