MFL MarMac musical to feature beloved comic strip characters

MONONA — One of the most beloved comic strips of all time will come alive on the MFL MarMac Auditorium stage Friday and Saturday, as the high school presents “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” as its annual musical.

Director Diane Fisk said the play is a fun one for the kids, who even today are familiar with the characters and music from the “Peanuts” comic strip produced by Charles M. Schulz’ from 1950 to 2000.

“What’s fun for the kids is it’s all the classic Charlie Brown characters and the ‘Peanuts’ characters, so they all get to play kids,” she said. “It’s kind of fun for them because so many times they’re adults.”

The show is a series of small snipits showing things that the characters do, including a baseball game and a scene where the characters are writing a book report.

“It’s not a traditional play in the fact that you kind of have a beginning and an end,” Fisk said. “This is just little vignettes that happen and it’s giving everyone an opportunity to be their character.
