MCGREGOR — A rainy Memorial Day morning could not dampen the enthusiasm at the McGregor school building Monday, as a local hero was honored during the community’s annual program.

Bob Eggen, a veteran of the Korean Conflict, has been a long time volunteer for Pocket City American Legion Post #267, having served as its adjutant and organizing the flags at Pleasant Grove Cemetery each Memorial Day. He has also been active in the community, serving on the hospital, library and Interstate Federal boards and having been an active member of his church. He also served as Pleasant Grove Cemetery caretaker for many years.
