McGlaughlin named MFL MarMac valedictorian; 20 seniors honored at Awards Night

MONONA — Hope McGlaughlin was named MFL MarMac High School’s Class of 2018 Valedictorian, highlighting a night when 20 seniors were presented with senior awards.McGlaughlin is the daughter of Wayne and DeAnn McGlaulin and plans to attend the University of Iowa in the fall and major in psychology. She was also presented with KWWL television’s Best of Class award as well as the Governor’s Scholarship Recognition Award and the St. Patrick’s Service Society Scholarship.Jerica Meana earned Salutatorian recognition. The daughter of Andra Meana and Troy and Leslie Meana plans to attend Upper Iowa in the fall with a major in health services administration.Fourteen students received a total of more than $15,444 in Dollars for Scholars awards while 12 students were presented awards by the Upper Mississippi Gaming Association. In addition to student awards, first-grade teacher Pam Havlicek and third-grade teacher Crystal Thurn were presented Teacher of the Year awards by Masonic Lodge No. 72 of Elkader.Following is a complete list of awards presented Wednesday night.
