Martinson steps in as new Monona mayor

MONONA — The Monona City Council saw a new face at the head of the table at Tuesday’s city council meeting, as Lynn Martinson took the reigns as the city’s newest mayor.
Martinson, who was elected in November, takes over for Fran Passmore, who had been appointed in 2016 to complete Barb Collins’ term after Collins was hired as the city’s deputy city clerk.

Martinson had nothing but good things to say about the city and city council, where Preston Landt also served in his first meeting as a councilman.

The new mayor noted that he had reviewed goals that the city and council had previously set and noted that the goals had been accomplished in a shorter timeframe than they had anticipated.
“Together they’ve accomplished over $1 million worth of grants in their terms prior to me coming there,” he said. “I’m excited to be working with them.”
