Martinson announces that City has offer for Garden View

Mayor Lynn ‘Marty’ Martinson announced last Tuesday during the monthly Coffee House at the Murphy Helwig Library that the City of Monona has received an offer to purchase the Garden View Senior Living facility. Selling the facility, however, is not nearly as simple as that.

“We’ve had an offer from a potential buyer, we turned it down,” Martinson said.

The first-year mayor said the first offer was turned down “flat,” but that last week the city had contacted its realtor and given it a number that the city wanted to get for the property. He said, however, that the city was looking for more than a number for the 12-year-old property.

“We are looking for a buyer that has an outstanding record for their facilities and the way they have been handling them,” he said.
