Local FFA students get taste of government

MONONA — A group of MFL MarMac students got a first-hand lesson in state government last Tuesday, visiting the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines during the 33rd annual Legislative Symposium and FFA Day at the Capitol.
MFL MarMac students Lizzie Herzmann, Braxsten Jones, Skylar Moser, Kira Reick and Macie Weigand and Kayleigh White joined advisor Sarah Wille in Des Moines. The day began at the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates, where students heard presentations from Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds as well as Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey and World Food Prize representative Libby Cummings. Wille said the speakers talked to the students about the importance of Iowa agriculture and agriculture classes that are available while also briefing them on what to expect once they got to the Capitol complex.
