Late rally lifts Bulldogs past West Central

   MONONA — MFL MarMac found its offense just in time last Wednesday in Maynard, rallying from eight runs behind to win the first game on its way to a doubleheader sweep.

   The Bulldogs (11-5) trailed the 1-17 Blue Devils 7-0 after two innings and 8-0 in the fifth before putting four runs on the board. They added five more in the seventh to tie the score 9-9 at the end of regulation before winning with a four-run eighth inning.

   The ‘Dogs had 12 hits in the game including two each from Jayde Schubert, Jordan Schubert and Lizzie Herzmann. Eleven of the Bulldog hits were singles, with Ja. Schubert recording the only extra-base knock.

   Jo. Schubert threw all eight innings, striking out six and scattering eight hits. Seven of the nine runs she allowed were unearned.

            The Bulldogs carried the momentum of their game-one comeback into the second contest, needing just five innings to score a 20-1 win.
