Historic Monona newspapers now available online

MONONA — There was a time when in order to find something in a newspaper 22 years ago, you had to find either a physical or microfilm copy of the paper, possibly spend hours searching, and then copy down what you found.
In Monona, those days are over.
Thanks to a project by the Monona Historical Museum, you can now do that search online … in a fraction of the time.
Archives of Monona Newspapers dating back to 1892, including The Outlook, Monona Leader and Monona Billboard became available late in December. They are accessible through any computer at http://monona.advantage-preservation.com, and content is available through a simple search engine.

To date the project to digitize past newspapers has cost more than $15,000, money that came from a gift that the museum recently received for preservation.
