Herrmann appointed Clayton County Attorney

On March 26 the Clayton County Board of Supervisors appointed Assistant Clayton County Attorney Zach Herrmann to fill the vacancy left by Alan Heavens, who was sworn in as a District Court judge in mid-March.  He has served as Assistant County Attorney for the past three years.

Herrmann’s grandparents and parents are from Clayton County.  Zach grew up in southern Iowa, where his parents had moved, until he was 10 years old.  The family then moved to North Carolina, where he met his wife, Jillian, years later.  Jillian is a founding member of Elkader’s Art in the Park festival.  The couple has a three year-old daughter, Emmajean, and they have resided on the family farm near Big Springs since they moved back to Iowa in 2013.

“I used to come back to the farm to visit my grandparents when I was younger,” Zach said.  Jillian and I came back here about 10 years ago for a visit, and she fell in love with the place.”
