Fair entries down slightly

   NATIONAL — When the Clayton County Fair kicks off its six-day run July 30, it will do so with slightly fewer entries than last year.

            Tami Muller, Clayton County’s 4-H and Youth Program Coordinator, reports that 4-H and FFA members have entered 3,155 exhibits for this year’s fair, down 64 (1.9 percent) from last year’s 3,219 entries. Several divisions showed increases from last year, including horses (up 23 entries) and swine (up 30 entries). Others showing increases included dairy (up two) and dogs (up eight), pets (up eight) and fashion review (up two). Shows with the largest decreases from last year included non-livestock exhibits (down 94), sheep (down 27), market beef (down 30) and rabbits (down 26). A total of 447 4-H and FFA members entered exhibits for this year’s Fair.
