Country music legend to highlight Clayton County Fair entertainment

NATIONAL — Country music legend Lee Greenwood will headline the entertainment schedule at the Clayton County Fair this summer.

Greenwood will perform Friday, Aug. 6 at a time to be determined.

The California native has been making music since graduating from high school in 1960 but did not become the star he is today until being discovered nearly 20 years later while performing in Las Vegas. Since then he has seen 25 songs reach the country music charts, including seven that reached No. 1. He was named Male Vocalist of the Year by the Country Music Association in 1983 and 1984 and won the same award from the Academy of Country Music in 1983. He won a Grammy Award for his single “I.O.U.” in 1985.
