Council sets 2020 goals, examines budget

MONONA – The Monona City Council set its 2020 goals and talked about its Fiscal 2020- 21 budget during a special meeting at City Hall last Monday.

The Council set no fewer than 17 goals for the current year, some of which involved completing projects currently in the works.

The top issue was replacing the 100 block of North Page Street, a project that will be completed this summer, while another involved surface rehabilitation of Darby Drive that was not completed last fall due to weather-related issues.

The Council will also look into other road repair projects, including North Main Street in front of the Coop and the second block of Davis Street. Public Works Director Randy Evanson will be obtaining quotes on the proposed projects. Another project involves the sanitary sewer and water infiltration issues. Council members have been researching companies and equipment that can be used to find the source of the issues. The Council also directed the City to send a survey to those with water and sewer accounts asking about issues such as water in their basements and water backup issues.
