Casino Queen will not offer sports betting

MARQUETTE — The Casino Queen Marquette is not expected to be in on the early phase of legalized sports betting in Iowa.

That news came from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission last week, which announced that 18 casinos in the state are licensed to allow sports gambling beginning Aug. 15.

The Casino Queen opened in November, 1999 as the Miss Marquette. Less than one year after opening it was purchased by Isle of Capri Casinos and renamed Isle of Capris Marquette. It was sold to Casino Queen in 2016 and renamed Casino Queen Marquette.

The Marquette casino is one of the smallest in Iowa and the one of only three not to offer an on-site hotel.
