Butterfly Gardens, Trails seek volunteers

The Monona Butterfly Gardens and Trails group is seeing new volunteers to assist with the group’s work.

Volunteers help water flowers, make, repair and clean benches, pull weeks, prune bushes and trees, help establish butterfly prairie, maintain bridges, maintain the trail and help maintain the Gardens and Trails Facebook Page and Web sites. They are also invited to adopt a flowerbed.

The group was established more than 20 years ago. Volunteers can be individuals as well as groups, families or even businesses. Volunteers work either weekly or on an as-needed basis, typically from late April through mid-August.

The group also accepts donations. Cash or memorials may be sent to Monona City Hall while donations of supplies for maintenance and projects are also invited. Donations are also welcome to the Monona Butterfly Gardens and Trails Endowment.

For more information on donating or volunteering, contact Pat Martin (563-539-4204) or Jim Langhus (563-539-4670).
