Bulldogs rebound from first June loss

MONONA — Ethan Stubbs and Max Havlicek combined on a five-hitter as MFL MarMac rebounded from its first loss in the month of June with a 10-1 victory over Clayton Ridge Friday.

The Bulldogs (10-4 overall, 4-2 in Upper Iowa Conference games) saw a five-game winning streak snapped the night before by two-time defending Class 3A champion Davenport Assumption. They also swept a doubleheader against Turkey Valley last week.

The Bulldogs wasted no time getting on the scoreboard against Clayton Ridge, scoring two runs in the first inning and three more in the second to help Stubbs pick up his second decision in as many starts. He threw four and two-thirds innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five, before Havlicek finished, striking out three in two and one-third innings of work.
