Bulldogs look for more success

MONONA -- Last year the MFL MarMac High School football team caught a lot of people by surprise - coming just one win short of a winning season and seven points short of a 4-1 district mark and possible playoff berth.

With much of that team returning, the Bulldogs have hopes to improve on that record this year.

“We lost some talented football players, but I feel really good about what we’ve got coming back,” Bulldog head coach Dan Anderson said.

Anderson said the team had a good offseason, including good participation in weight lifting sessions. He said preseason agility testing showed how far the team has come, with several players coming in both stronger and faster than last year’s strongest and fastest players.

“We’re stronger, we’re faster overall than we were last year as a team – a lot of that comes with age, we have a lot of seniors on this football team,” he said.

Anderson said this year’s class of 13 seniors is the largest senior group in nearly 10 years. The Bulldogs’ overall numbers are also stronger than a year ago, with their 41 kids up

The ‘Dogs return 14 players who saw significant varsity playing time a year ago, including their entire offensive line and a record-setting quarterback.
