Bulldogs hand out wrestling awards

   MONONA -- The MFL MarMac High School wrestling team handed out its annual awards during its banquet earlier this month. A young Bulldog team had a strong season, going 17-5 in duals while winning one tournament and sending four individuals to the state tournament.

   Individually, Gabe McGeough was the team’s lone state placewinner, taking fifth at 145 pounds. Karter Decker and Zach Howe led the Bulldogs with 45 wins each while Decker recorded a team-high 29 falls. Decker had 48 takedowns on the year, with McGeough just behind him with 47 and Howe recording 46, while Decker had 24 near-falls and Kashton Mathis 17.

   The team’s highest honor, the Dave Sanger Award, was presented to Howe.
