Bulldogs grapplers sweep quad

TROY MILLS — The MFL MarMac wrestling team headed into the holiday break on a strong note Thursday by sweeping a quadrangular at North Linn.

The Bulldogs defeated Benton Community 56-15, North Linn 55-20 and Postville 45-30 to improve to 12-2 in duals this season.

Zach Trudo (132 pounds), Michael Egan (138), Brady Olson (145), Avery Smith (170) and Jacob Trudo had falls against Benton Community while Garret Keehner recorded a technical fall. Zach Howe (152) recorded the ‘Dogs only fall against North Linn and Z. Trudo had the only fall against Postville. The ‘Dogs won two of the three meets on the strength of having wrestlers at more weight classes than their opponents, getting outscored 14-13 in contested matches against North Linn and 18-9 in contested matches against Postville.

The Bulldogs return from the holiday break Jan. 4 with a quadrangular at Postville before traveling to Conrad for the South Hardin-BCLUW dual tournament Jan. 6.
