Aquatic Center could open June 18

MONONA -- The Monona Family Aquatic Center could open as soon as June 18 if state social distancing rules allow it. That was the decision of the Monona City Council during its regular June 1 meeting.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Council members attended the meeting in person, with members of the public listening and participating via conference call. Barring a change in the current situation, meetings are expected to reopen to the public in July.

Following extensive discussion, the Council voted to fill the pool and allow swimming lessons and practice use by the Monona-Postville swim team and to open the pool June 18 if Gov. Kim Reynolds allows it.
